What is the difference between Hypnobabies and other childbirth Hypnosis classes?

Our Hypnobabies course has 18 hours of instruction, and includes a 172 page workbook, 7 instructional hypnosis scripts on CD 5 scripts on paper, 2 Birthing CDs that keep our Hypno-moms in hypnosis during labor, a Birth Partners Guide Booklet, a Quick Reference Guide for Labor, a Birth Partner’s Relax and Be Confident CD, and many hand outs.

Other childbirth hypnosis classes include 8-10 hours of instruction, little or no childbirth education, and materials that consist of a few 20 minute audio tapes or CDs, two or three hypnosis scripts on paper and a small textbook.

Hypnobabies uses real Medical Hypnosis techniques called “hypno-anesthesia.” These are the same ones used for non-anesthetic medical and dental surgical procedures, (for when people are allergic to medical anesthetics) and has a very high success rate of unmedicated comfortable births.

Other childbirth hypnosis classes use guided imagery and a small amount of visualization with very little hypnosis at all. Their success rate is understandably lower.

Hypnobabies teaches staying healthy and low risk, detailed Birthing Choices information for creating Informed Consent, an in-depth nutrition and exercise program, Optimum Fetal Positioning, turning a posterior baby, Anatomy and Physiology of Birth, avoiding back labor, birth empowerment skills, and includes full training for Birth Partners, Quick Reference handouts for labor, as well as Birthing Rehearsals using Hypnobabies Techniques in class.

Most other childbirth hypnosis courses have none of the above.

Hypnobabies classes are all taught by Certified Hypnobabies Instructors who have at least 50 hours of Hypnosis Training as well as childbirth education backgrounds. Other Birth Hypnosis programs have no such requirements. Regular childbirth hypnosis classes can be taught by anyone, and backgrounds vary widely.
